Resuming large downloads with a download manager (IDM, FDM, aria2)
DebridMaster download links support HTTP Range requests and stay valid for 72 hours. How to pause, resume and use multiple connections with Internet Download Manager, Free Download Manager or aria2.

Once DebridMaster has fetched and verified a file, you get a direct link to our copy. That link has two properties that make big files painless: it supports HTTP Range requests, and it stays valid for 72 hours. Together they mean a dropped connection is a pause, not a restart — and a download manager can pull the file over several connections at once. This guide shows how to use that with the three most common tools. None of them has an official DebridMaster integration; they are ordinary HTTP downloaders and that is all they need to be.
What Range support gives you
A Range request asks the server for a specific byte span of a file instead of the whole thing. Because our edge honours those requests:
- Resume works. If a transfer stops at 3.2 GB of 5 GB, the client asks for bytes from 3.2 GB onward and continues. Nothing already saved is re-downloaded.
- Parallel connections work. A download manager can open, say, 8 connections that each fetch a different slice, then stitch them together. On connections where a single stream does not reach full speed, this is the difference between 3 MB/s and 30 MB/s.
- Retries are cheap. A failed segment is re-requested on its own; the rest of the file is untouched.
You are charged once, when the file is verified on our server. Resuming, retrying or downloading in segments from our link does not cost anything extra.
The 72-hour window
The link you receive is valid for 72 hours from when the file was verified. Within that window you can pause for as long as you like, move the download to another machine or come back tomorrow. After 72 hours the link stops working and the file has to be requested again. For very large files, start the download as soon as the link appears so the window is not the limiting factor.
Get the direct link
In your account, each finished download shows its link. Copy the full URL — the download manager needs the exact address, not the page it appears on. If your browser has already started downloading the file, cancel that and hand the URL to the manager instead, or let the browser finish if the speed is fine; browsers can resume Range-capable downloads too, but they use a single connection.
Internet Download Manager (Windows)
- Copy the DebridMaster link.
- In IDM, click Add URL, paste it and confirm. IDM checks the server, sees that resume is supported (“Resume capability: Yes”) and starts the transfer.
- The number of connections is under Options → Connection → Default max. conn. number. 8 is a sensible default; more rarely helps.
- To pause, click Stop; to continue later, select the download and click Resume. As long as you are inside the 72-hour window it picks up where it left off.
IDM’s browser integration will also catch the link automatically if you click it in a browser it is hooked into.
Free Download Manager (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Copy the link and click + (Add download) in FDM, or use File → Add download and paste.
- FDM detects that the server accepts Range requests and splits the file. The per-download connection count is in Settings → Traffic (“maximum number of connections per download”); 8 is plenty.
- Pause with the pause button; resume with play. FDM keeps partial data on disk, so quitting the application and reopening it later is fine.
aria2 (command line, any platform)
aria2 is a lightweight downloader that is ideal for servers, NAS boxes and scripts.
aria2c -x 8 -s 8 -c -o my-file.zip "https://…your DebridMaster link…"
-x 8opens up to 8 connections to the server.-s 8splits the file into 8 parts for those connections.-cmeans continue: if a partial file with the same name exists, aria2 resumes it instead of starting over.-osets the output file name.
Run the same command again after an interruption and it resumes. For a list of links, put one URL per line in a text file and use aria2c -i links.txt -c -x 8 -s 8.
Browsers, curl and wget
- Browsers resume Range-capable downloads through their download panel (Chrome, Firefox and Edge all show a Resume button after a failure), but they use one connection.
- curl:
curl -C - -o my-file.zip "<link>"continues a partial file (-C -lets curl work out the offset). - wget:
wget -c "<link>"does the same with-c.
When resume does not work
- The 72 hours are over. The link has expired; request the file again from your account. The original charge does not repeat for the earlier fetch, but a new fetch is a new download.
- The partial file was deleted or renamed. Downloaders resume by matching the partial file on disk; if it is gone, the download starts from zero.
- You are pasting the host’s own link. Range support applies to the DebridMaster link (our copy of the file), not to the original file-host page. Always give the download manager the link from your account.
Sensible defaults
For most people: 8 connections, resume on, and start the download right after the file is verified. If you download many large files, add a download manager to your routine once — it takes a minute to set up and removes the worst part of dealing with file hosts, which is starting over.
